Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch (Blue Note USA Stereo LP 1964) Liberty. VAN GELDER

This is a late 1960's USA Stereo LP pressing, circa 1967. It has a heavyweight matte sleeve which has the "43 West 61st St, New York 23" address on the rear of the sleeve. This, I believe, is the same address wording as on 1st pressing sleeves. It comes with a period generic UK polythene lined inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has blue & white "Blue Note" labels. These have the "A Division Of Liberty Records INC..." text. The labels are grooved also. The matrix numbers are as follows:

Side 1: BNST-84163-A
 Side 2: BNST-84163-B 

"VAN GELDER" and "STEREO" are machine stamped in the dead wax on both Side 1 and Side 2. This is a genuine late 1960's USA Stereo pressing of this classic Post-Bop/ Avant-Garde Jazz/ Free Jazz LP. The quality of late 60's U.S. pressings is still extremely good. They are the best alternative to pricey 1st Pressings/ Early pressings.

Sleeve: There is considerable rubbing wear along the majority of the top edge. There is a 5 cm seam split at the centre of the top edge. There are a few other areas on the top edge that are close to splitting. There is a strip of old tape staining along the entirety of the top edge on the front and rear sleeve (see photo). There is mild, moderate or considerable rubbing wear on the bottom edge on some areas. There is a 7 cm seam split on the bottom edge. This runs along from the sleeve opening. There is mild fading to the spine. There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the spine face on some areas. There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable. There is a very small circular stain on the rear sleeve. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear, & rubbing wear, on the sleeve on some areas. Overall, Good condition

Vinyl: There is a small area of more moderate sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, on Side 2. These can only be seen under a strong light. This has caused two very mild (2 cm and 1 cm) hairline surface marks. There are two very mild 2.5 cm hairline surface marks on Side 2. There are two very small 1 cm hairline surface marks on Side 2. These both go around the groove everso slightly. There are three very tiny surface rub marks, or scuff marks, at the very outer edge of Side 2. These do not affect playback in any way. There are some light, mild, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. Side 1 is in Very Good++ condition. Side 2 is in Very Good minus condition. Overall, a strong Very Good condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear spindle wear. There are a couple of tiny pin-prick sized black dots on Side 1's label. The period UK polythene-lined inner sleeve is in Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are a very few mild or very mild clicks in two separate places on Side 1. There is some more moderate intermittent crackle at the very end of Side 2. Overall, a very serviceable audio copy!
