Description
You are bidding on the entire Monkees 45rpm catalog released in the U.S. spanning from September 1966 until November 1987. This lot contains 18 45rpm records with 16 original picture sleeves! This set represents many years of collecting and gathering, upgrading and trading! A wonderful set, all records grading VG+ to Near MINT! All sleeves are VG+ to Near MINT! I have listed each record and sleeve with a brief description:
.) Last Train To Clarksville/Take A Giant Step (Colgems 1001) Released in September of 1966, this was the first 45 from the Monkees, the record that really started it all. This version is the Black & White photo with the red strip on the bottom which says Ask for the Monkees LP Album. The record would grade a VG+ with no visible lines and the labels are MINT! The vinyl retains much of it's original sheen with a few very light lines...hardly noticable. A superb record. The sleeve would grade VG+ with a wrinkle or two and one tiny tear at the top. Otherwise, no writing, stickers, staple holes and all seams are intact.
.) Last Train To Clarksville/Take A Giant Step (Colgems 1001) Released in September of 1966, this version features the full color photo on the sleeve along with the white strip along the bottom saying write to the Monkees c/o Sreen Gems....watch them on NBC-TV. The record would grade a Near MINT! Virtually no defects...a near perfect record! The labels are MINT as well! A stunning copy! The sleeve would grade a VG+ to NM-. Virtually no defects except for a faint partial ring wear near bottom and a crease near top corner...otherwise a superb copy!
.) I'm A Believer/I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone (Colgems 1002) Released in December 1966. The record would grade a VG+...superb vinyl, virtually no visble lines and lots of gloss. The labels are free of writing & stickers with very, very faint wear! Still a Excellant Copy! The sleeve is VG++, only defect is a small tear at the top opening. It has the thumb tab opening.
.) A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You/The Girl I Knew Somewhere (Colgems 1004) Released in March of 1967. This record was released without a picture sleeve. It is however housed in a Colgems Stock Company sleeve which is in excellant condition with some minor writing on one side. The record would grade a NM- vinyl is perfect and so are the labels. A few small, faint, faint lines. A Stunning copy!
.) Pleasant Valley Sunday/Words (Colgems 1007) Released in July 1967. The record would grade a VG+...nothing major, a few lines. The labels are excellant and free of writing or stickers. The sleeve has some ringwear on one side...and a couple wrinkles...still it grades a VG+! All seams intact and no other defects!
.) Daydream Believer/Goin' Down (Colgems 1012) Released in November 1967. The record would grade a VG+ with a few faint lines. The labels are NM-...very, very clean! There is a bit of wear-looks like it came from the factory like this..actual a label defect. The sleeve would grade a NM-, virtually no defects at all. Very flat, thumb tab opening, no stickers, or writing or tears. Simply stunning!
.) Valleri/Tapioca Tundra (Colgems 1019) Released in March of 1968. This record is Near MINT! Stunning with no defects...I would call it MINT! No picture sleeve was made for this release. However, it comes housed in a Colgems Company stock sleeve which is in excellant condition.
.) D.W. Wasburn/It's Nice To Be With You (Colgems 1023) Released in June 1968. The record would grade a VG+..two visible lines on one side. Other than that...this record is PERFECT! Clean, vibrant labels! The sleeve is VG+. Some slight wear along the edges...other than that...superb! Thumb tab opening and all seams are intact. No writing, tears, or stickers.
.) Porpoise Song/As We Go Along (Colgems 1031) Released in October 1968. The record would grade MINT! Stunning & Pristine! Enough said! The sleeve is VG+ except for visible ring wear. Otherwise, very, very nice!
.) Tear Drop City/A Man Without A Dream (Colgems 66-5000) Released in February 1969. The record would grade a VG+ to NM-. Just a superb record! Very clean, high gloss, no visble lines! The sleeve is VG+ with it's only defect being a partial record impression...otherwise very NICE!
.) Listen To The Band/Someday Man (Colgems 66-5004) Released in June 1969. Another PERFECT & MINT RECORD! Absolutely breathtaking! The sleeve is equally nice...only defect is a staple hole in each corner...otherwise looks brand new! High grade quality!
.) Good Clean Fun/Mommy & Daddy (Colgems 66-5005) Released in September 1969. The record would grade a VG-a few visble lines...still very, very ice! Labels are clean & Vibrant! The sleeve would grade a VG+-some slight yellowing on edges and one crease. No tears or writing or stickers. Very nice sleeve!
.) Oh My My/I Love You Better (Colgems 66-5011) Released in June 1970 and this was the last Monkees single on Colgems. By far, the rarest of all the Monkees picture sleeves except for the Little Bit Me picture sleeve (Colgems 1003) which is NOT part of this lot. It sold very poorly & many were recalled, destroyed or had a hole drilled thru them and desiginated as a cut out. This record would grade a Near MINT! No visible defects at all! Stunning and looks unplayed! The sleeve is equally nice an it's only defect is a partial store sticker on one side. Other than that...superb!
.) That Was Then, This Is Now/Theme from the Monkees (Arista 9505) Released in July of 1986 amid the Monkees reunion tour & second wave of Monkee mania! The record is perfect unplayed store stock and the sleeve has some ring wear, otherwise it's perefect!
.) Daydream Believer/Randy Scouse Git (Arista 9532) Released in November 1986. Perfect unplayed store stock record & Sleeve. Both MINT!
.) Heart & Soul/MGBGT (Rhino 74408) Released in September 1987. Both versions with sleeves. One on black vinyl and the other is on pink vinyl and says promotional only! Both are perfect & unplayed store stock.
.) Every Step of the Way/I'll Love You Forever (Rhino 74410) Released in November 1987. Both the record & Sleeve are unplayed & perfect store stock! MINT!
