Please read everything before bidding and note that I visually grade my records.  I try to be honest and very detailed in my listings.  These records all come from my personal collection of which are mostly Near Mint and very well taken care of.  There may be some cosmetic flaws,but are often minor.  I always recommend cleaning your records with proper record cleaner or a VPI machine to eliminate dust and improve sound quality and the listening experience.  Enjoy!

Here to offer is a rare and fabulous recording from 1955 of Helen Merrill Self Titled album on the EmArcy (Mercury div.) jazz label.

This is a sought after jazz collector’s album featuring many famous jazz musicians of the 1950s including Clifford Brown, Oscar Pettiford,Milt Hinton, Bobby Donaldson and others – please see the pictures for other personnel.

I believe this to be a “Deep Groove” Mono original or early edition pressing with the blue back jacket and blue/silver deep groove label.

The matrix number (hard to read) stamped in the dead wax run-out of each side:

Overall Condition: Excellent

Overall this record is a very nice clean copy--vinyl,sleeve, and jacket are all in beautiful condition.

The record/vinyl is in Excellent+ condition.  It is not near mint,but there are no scratches noticeable at all. It is well taken care of.  There may be some slight sleeve scuffs and a little wear, but no major surface markings that I can see.  It is a beautiful copy of this recording.  It is very clean, but I do recommend always cleaning with record cleaner or a VPI machine to remove dust and improve sound quality.  There is very slight spindle wear, but the label is quite bright and not faded.  I am only grading it visually--I took many pictures for examination.  I have not listened to it.  I feel it is a strong excellent grade.

I don’t believe the inner paper sleeve is the original EmArcy sleeve, but it is a poly-lined sleeve in excellent condition.  It is functional with no seam splits or tears.

I would grade the outer jacket as VG+ to Excellent.  The front of this jacket is still very glossy and pretty clean for its age.  It shows some minor shelf wear but there are no seam splits or major damage at all. The spine looks well preserved and intact. 

The back of the jacket shows some fading, discoloring and aging, but still is quite good. Nothing is of major concern, just some natural wear for its age.  Taking everything in consideration overall,the jacket and complete album is still quite nice and in great shape.

This is a nice jazz recording of Helen Merrill and will be a beautiful addition to anyone’s jazz record collection.
