GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT

I DON'T CARE IF THE SUN DON'T SHINE

Recorded on 15 September 1954 and released on 27 September 1954, Good Rockin' Tonight, backed with I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine, was Elvis' second single.

For auction here is a rare piece of authentic rock n' roll history. This is an original pressing; it has the three pushmarks evident on both sides of the label and it has the correct spacing of approximately 1cm before the 72 in the trail-off numbers.

The labels are clear of any writing or tears. As you will see from the photographs below, they are in good condition and simply display the wear that can be expected from a record of this age. The "I Don't Care..." side is a darker print and has less fading than the "Good Rockin'..."side. Again, from the photographs, you can see these are relatively good clean labels, especially when compared with some of the poor examples that you will see fetching big bucks on various auction sites (£500 for one with writing on the labels???...don't be silly!!). The vinyl has plenty of sheen and lustre left in it. There is a slight rim warp, which is more evident when looking at the "I Don't Care.." side. This, however, is barely visible when the looking at the record as it would be when displayed - it's only really obvious when looking directly at the edge of the vinyl. I have played this record only once (it had to be done!) and it played with no jumps or pops, just the usual distinctive "Sun hiss", which was evident on all five Elvis Sun singles, especially the first four.

It comes with an original plain brown paper sleeve, although I can offer a Sun Record Company sleeve instead, at no extra cost, if you prefer (some collectors like to use the "Sun ray" design Sun Record Company sleeves for display) .
