ABOUT THE RECORD The Complete Sun Sessions is a 1987 Commemorative Release of Elvis Presley's earliest recordings. The liner notes tell the tale of the beginnings of a career that, while cut too short, spanned an incredible lifetime! The tracks capture the early Elvis when producer Sam Phillips was looking for a "a white man who had the Negro sound and the Negro feel." Elvis was that man and, it seems, Phillips' dream of making a billion dollars from that find was about to be realized. When Elvis met Scotty Moore and Bill Black, together they rocked the world and these songs are the beginning. Editor David Cantwell said of the album, "This is the Big Bang of rock & roll, the moments when Elvis Presley, guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black first twanged up their R&B and heated up their C&W, igniting an explosion that created the world we now inhabit. Rock & roll has never been as elemental, as jubilant or desperate, as the versions here of Arthur Crudup's That's All Right and Bill Monroe's Blue Moon Of Kentucky. And just as significantly, on I Love You Because and Blue Moon, The Sun Sessions include the beginnings of Elvis' earnest ballad style that would soon be nearly as influential as his creation of rockabilly."
