Rare Record Collectors Price Guide 2024

Condition
Mint Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Excellent Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good
Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good
Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. Fair
Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. Bad
Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Who am I? How Did I Get Started?

A Quick Insight in to How I got Started Collecting & Helping Others Collect

I have been collecting and helping others collect records for around 20 years.

It all started when I bought a 1978 Ferguson stereogram. I had no records to play on it so I went to the local car boot sale. I found a copy of 'The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles 7th Edition'. Here is where I began my collecting. I decided to collect all of the UK number ones within the era of the book, 1952 to 1988. The first number British chart number 1 was Al Martino on 14th November 1952 with 'Here in My Heart'.

The last in the book was 'Mistletoe and Wine' Sung by Sir Cliff Richard seeing 1988 out.

In total there were 477 UK number ones from '52 to '88.

Of course you cant just have one collection when you embark on a journey of discovery and I have ended up at times with several thousand records.

I started helping others fill their collections on and off over the years, but record collecting has always been something I have been passionate about since the day I bought my first record.
