Description
Here for auction is the iconic 1957 LP from Elvis Presley "Rock 'n' Roll No.2" on the HMV label. This is not a reissue; it is the genuine, original pressing from 1957. The Record: Plays very well with some slight surface noise (tested on Linn Sondek with ceramic cartridge into a Quad pre/post amplifier), and crackle between tracks. I was amazed how dynamic this LP sounded with Bill Black's bass very much to the fore and Scotty Moore's guitar sounding right up there in the mix. I would grade the record as "Excellent minus" as defined in the Rare Record Guide. The Inner bag: I believe this to be the correct Poly-Lined inner, with "take good care of your records" script in a square block around the centre. The Poly Lining has become detached from the paper but still provides protection. The inner bag is graded "Very good". The Sleeve: This, unfortunately, has seen some slight damage, but remains very clean. Some clear tape has been applied to the record opening (to protect the edges) but has been there some years and has browned. I have not tried to remove it. The flipbacks are intact, but the top right has suffered some slight creasing. Please see pictures for clarification. I would grade the sleeve as "Very Good plus".
This massively rare record is much better than many I have seen on Ebay and is extremely rare to find in this condition. The record, and others I shall be listing are being sold on behalf of a relation, and therefore there is a reserve price, below which they will not be sold. Record will be sent in professional mailer with stiffeners.
