Description
Elvis Presley “Mystery Train”/“I Forgot To Remember To Forget” RCA Victor 447-0600 1965 Gold Standard Series (Dog on Side) Pressing
Originally issued on Sun Records in 1955, the songs were reissued by RCA Victor after the company purchased the singer’s contract in November of 1955.
The disc was subsequently reissued on the label’s Gold Standard Series while the artist was serving in the U.S. Army in 1959 and again in 1965. This pressing is from 1965 with Nipper in the “dog on side” label position.
Vinyl: Excellent with plenty of shine. “Mystery Train” grades as M- (mint minus) while “Forgot To Remember” is closer to VG+ with a couple of light surface marks. It has been cleaned with an ultrasonic record cleaner and has plenty of shine.
The RCA Gold Standard Series sleeve is in VG+ condition with no seam splits, rips or tears. There is also a blue hard stock sleeve with artist and release information along with a stamp of the original disc jockey owner.
Labels: there is a white sticker with 1955 in marker on each side.
Provenance: This copy belonged to TWO different Massachusetts disc jockeys and Elvis collectors. The first one, Ken Rapoza, formerly of WEEI Boston, died in a 1987 accident. The second one, who inherited this copy, died in 2024.
