Elvis Presley With The Jordanaires - Loving You 7” Single Sided RCA UK Acetate
This is an incredibly rare item and if not unique there can only be one or two other copies in existence. This is pretty much an unknown entity however it looks to me like a 1960s acetate and was found in a collection of other rare demos and white labels from the same era. Although not meant for repeated use, this acetate does play OK at about Good it has background ‘hiss’ rather than crackle which I think is its age and the nature of the surface material not the condition. Visually its about VG both sides and as you can see still retains much of its lustre. Still acceptable to listen to but more academic with this item. I have given it a gentle clean and one careful play. What you are bidding on here is not so much a record but part of the record industry process before production so its important to consider this more like an artefact in the same way as a metal stamper. It also needs to be carefully handled as it is not vinyl but lacquer on metal, as collectors of acetates will know.
It has survived in miraculous condition with no chips or deep marks or warps. The text is handwritten, presumably in the factory. The blue text looks to have been added later in an archive of some sort, possibly when Carlin Music acquired this item as part of a previous archive. So difficult to know the exact year this dates from but could be late 50s or early 60s. A fascinating small insight into the music industry.
