Description
1956 first pressing of Elvis’s debut album. The first Rock and Roll album of all time! Plays well, no skips or jumps, normal vinyl sounds (some hiss and minor Pops) that do not spoil the listening. For a 63 year old vinyl, it is not in bad shape.
For those not sure what Elvis’s first press means, check out song writer credits for ‘just Because’..... when first pressed RCA believed it was in the public domain (PD).After it’s release the actual song writers came looking for their royalties. Every subsequent pressing credit them as writers. This album clearly shows the song as P.D. First Press.
Vinyls is very clean and bright with surface scuffs and light scratching. Matrix numbers are Side 1 - G2-PP1 272 3S/Side 2 - G2 PP1 283 3S.
Cover has split completely at the top and 70% at the bottom but luckily the previous owner resisted the temptation to ‘repair’ it using cello tape,so no unsightly marking. General age related scuffs but still a good cover. Due to the splits it has been housed in a plastic cover so has kept quite well.
This album is a piece of Rock and Roll history and good, playable copies are getting harder to find.
