Description
Ultra Rare in this condition! Elvis Presley - Loving You - RCA LPM-1515 (Mono) Original 1st Pressing. It says "Long Play" rather than Mono on the bottom of the label. I have every reason to believe that this record is UNPLAYED! I hesitate to say that any refer to any record as being in in mint condition, but this is as close to MINT condition as you can get with a 40 year-old LP!
Here's the story of the LP..... I obtained this 20 years ago when I was hired to liquidate the record collection of a former 1950-60's Radio Station Progam Director who worked in several major markets during the evolution of rock and roll. The PD had passed away, and his heirs were referred to me to appraise and sell the collection. The collection was amazing! I sold several of the rarest records on the market at the time, including a few to RCA record executives. I found two different Christmas cards to the PD from Elvis (with his signature in ink - not preprinted) along with dozens of 8" x 10" glossy photos of Elvis in concert. They were not stock promo photos, but photos apparently taken by a private photographer. Along with all of the other artifacts in the collection, it was obvious to me that this PD was one of the lucky few who was interacted with many of the great performers of the 50's and 60's.
Even though this came from a radio station guy, this is not a promo copy. It may have been a complimentary stock copy that was carefully put away by the PD and never played. Rather than sell this, I bought this from the collection for myself because of the exquisite condition of the vinyl and cover. I've never played it. I don't want to. But it's time to share this gift someone else. I have college bills to pay for my kids.
Goldmine's book value for this record is $300 for Near Mint Condition. The auction is open to collectors worldwide. PayPal is my preferred method of payment, but I will accept money orders or bank checks. No personal checks! Shipping will be $8 in the US. $15 to Canada. $20 to the rest of the world. If you request express shipment, we will need to discuss that after the auction. I will insure the shipment at my expense.
E-mail me with any questions. Look for my other auctions as I liquidate some of the gems from my personal collection. I'll be adding one item per day to my auction list throughout the summer!
On Jun-23-07 at 07:26:50 PDT, seller added the following information:IMPORTANT MOTE ADDED SATURDAY 6/23 10:15 AM (EDT) - I now have reason to believe that the record may have been plAyed a few times on Side 2. A question from a potential buyer on the stamped numbers in the trail-off wax forced me to buy a pair of glasses (known as "cheaters " at the drugstore) to help me distinguish one of the letters. After putting the glasses on, under bright light I see what may be a few light needle scuffs on side 2. In my response to the Ebayer who asked the question stamped numbers, I said I saw "needle drops" - I used the wrong phrase in that response - I believe that they are light needle scuffs. I also see a few light scuffs in the dead wax which may be from a needle or possibly sleeve scuffs. Side 1 still looks extremely clean, with what I believe are light sleeve scuffs in the trail-off wax. As I stated before, I have never played the disc. My description of how I obtained the disc and the collection that it was retrived from leads me to believe that the radio PD may have played it a few times at most. I MUST CHANGE THE CONDITION TO NEAR MINT OR MINT-MINUS. I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY CONFUSION. I WILL CONTACT ALL BIDDERS THROUGH 6/23 AT 10:15 EDT DIRECTLY IN THE EVENT THAT THEY WANT TO RETRACT THEIR BIDS. CONTACT ME WITH ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS VIA E-MAIL.
