Description

Lovely clean copy of this iconic Elvis single, coupling Lieber & Stoller’s Hound Dog with Carl Perkins’ classic, Blue Suede Shoes.

The single with this catalogue number was originally released in 1958 on the standard RCA black label which had the tri-centre push-out.

1964 saw a limited re-issue on RCA black labels (round centres)

Then in 1969, there was a limited run of about half a dozen of the original tri-centred originals from 1958/59 released on RCA Victor orange labels, each with its original catalogue number.

This is one of those 1969 orange label re-issues.

Matrix No’s: (Machine Stamped) H2WW-8398-1-1C/G2PW-1282-1-1C

Vinyl: VG+ (Graded on visual appearance. Does actually play better than it looks.) It’s a nice clean looking copy, obviously handled and played with plenty of superficial hairline surface marks. Play-tested in full and the reproduction remains remarkably clear. Sounds fantastic with only light crackle and hiss that virtually disappears once the audio kicks in. No jumps, skips or scratches.

Labels are also nice and clean. Standard orange RCA Victor labels with black label text, white logo/branding and rim-text. Pressed on a standard four-pronged push-out with some understandable evidence of spindle-wear.

Sleeve: Standard RCA orange/green/white company die-cut with wave-top thumb cut. Nice clean condition..

Nice copy of a scarce edition single. Sadly not the original tri-centred black label, but then again, I’m not asking anything like those 1958 black label prices!!
