ELVIS PRESLEY - “G. I. BLUES” (LSP-2256), A MEGA-RARE 1963-64 "STEREO" ISSUE!                RECORD: VG+ with very clean, glossy surfaces! Side 1 appears VG++ (EXC), but Side 2 has a good number of paper sleeve scuffs that prevent an overall VG++ (EXC) grade assignment. Track 1 on each side were test-played for clarity due the the majority of scuffs present in those areas and the result was amazing! Very strong vocals and instrumentation, but with a few subtle "ticks". I see no reason why the remainder of this Hollywood pressing shouldn't play just as well. Of course, being a Hollywood pressing, the ultra-rare "STEREO" labels show all the more eye-appeal! They are simply stunning and look better than the photos presented here due to camera flash. This variety with just "STEREO" in bold silver lettering, was pressed in very small numbers during late 1963 and into 1964. It followed the much more common, "LIVING STEREO" first pressings and preceded the common "White Top" labels (1964-68). These "MONO" and "STEREO" Silver Top Elvis Presley records are highly sought-after by collectors due to their scarcity. "G. I. Blues" was originally released in October of 1960 and includes "Wooden Heart", which was not released on 45 RPM until 1964, when it was backed with "Blue Christmas". The matrix numbers on this record end with 3S/3S.   COVER: VG++ (EXC) with no seam splits, tape, writing, stickers or staple holes. However, there is some bending to the lower right corner, stopping the cover from achieving a higher grade. This is, overall, a very clean, original cover with virtually no ring wear. A trivial amount of corner tip wear is noticed. This album has been very well-kept and stored carefully over the past 55 years.                       INNER SLEEVE:  The original Turquoise-colored, "ELVIS' Great LP Catalog" sleeve from 1963-64. This sleeve is in beautiful condition with bold coloring!
