RD-7723 Mono - Small Orange label - 1969
In my experience, this is without doubt the rarest UK pressing and naturally VERY hard to find on ebay and incredibly sought after when it does appear.
This isn’t due to a limited production run, but simply that it had too many Elvis albums to compete with in 1969 (68 Comeback, Flaming Star on the Camden label, the critically acclaimed Elvis from Memphis and multiple back catalogue reissues) and simply didn’t sell very well, hence fewer copies in people’s record collections to circulate!
As a fanatical and rather obsessed Elvis vinyl collector, I have recently upgraded my original copy (which is why you now have the pleasure of reading this auction!)
Record Grading - VG to VG minus
PLAY TESTED on an Audio-Technica turntable.
This LP has been played and enjoyed (which it should be, of course) and has many fine light scratches. There are some heavier marks that are audible ticks across side 1 track 3 and side 2 track 3, but the majority plays through VG with the usual clicks and pops especially in quieter parts. The sound quality is still good with no bad groove wear distortion. No skips. No sticks. No jumps.
Cover Grading - VG+
Front cover: Very clean condition with only light discolouration and edge creasing. Some laminate lift to the spine that starts with a 2” square lift in the top left corner.
Back cover: Light discolouration and some ring wear/rubbing to the Matt black lettering, which is very common on these unlaminated back covers. Small marks under the ‘M’ in Summer. See photos.
Strong spine, no heavy creasing or tears.
Inner Sleeve Grading - VG+
Decca poly-lined variation with blue solid line text boxes and most importantly, dated R.S. 11-69.
