Elvis Presley CLP 1093 HMV 1st Press MONO 1956 Matrix / Runout (Side 1): 2XAV 255-1N Matrix / Runout (Side 2): 2XAV 256-1N Vinyl condition: visually looks in GREAT condition for its age. There are a number of light surface marks to both sides and light wispy markings to both sides (I could not see any nasty scratches and it plays all the way through). I have play tested both sides and it plays through with no jumps or skips at all and sounds great in my opinion for its age and condition. It does play with some crackling and background noise in places but nothing dreadful that I would say spoils the original 50s sound and vibe from this record. There is an unevenness to one side of the vinyl but playing on a Rega RP1 it did not effect play at all (it did not bounce or jump ).
Labels condition: see photos intact and no writing, spindle trail visible.
Sleeve condition: please see the photos, one corner is, well, ruined, and the spine is split. The corner could be repaired with a portion of a generic sleeve and I have even seen colour photocopy used to replace lost portions. I wont repair it but leave it to buyers choice. Inner is split but these can be picked up as they were widely used for other vinyl at the time. Small old price label on back. The good news is about 80 % of the sleeve is still there and trust me when I say I have seen a lot worse being sold. It has no taped up rips or splits or re-glued seams . Original, what you see is what you get.
Now for the good news, the price. A quick look on E bay for vinyl in similar condition with a sleeve is £100 plus and had it not been for the sleeve that's what I would be asking if not more. This is getting harder to find at a reasonable cost and some prices are just getting a bit silly. I have priced this hopefully to sell to someone who would love an original copy to play and enjoy.
Please remember this is the FIRST PRESSING and in my opinion presents great for its age. Any question please ask. The vinyl is supplied in paper poly sleeve and generic card sleeve (to protect the original paper sleeve)
