Description
Lovely clean and increasingly scarce copy of this Elvis Costello debut album on Stiff. Contains what in my opinion, is one of the best songs of all time - Alison.
Recorded in 1976 and released the following year, this LP was subject to a large number of sleeve variations.
Original copies came with a black and white front-cover photo cover and several different coloured rear covers.
The first 1000 had yellow backs, and contained a flyer with an offer of a free album for a nominated friend.
Other early pressings had green, blue & pink backs.
Later releases had a coloured tint and background to the front cover photo accompanied by a matching coloured rear cover.
This is one of the early green-backed copies, getting very hard to find, especially in this condition.

Vinyl: Ex A super-condition copy. Remarkably clean for its forty years of age. Carries only very light superficial hairline surface marks and retaining a nice deep lustre and sheen. Play-tested in full and reproduction is just fantastic. No jumps, clicks or scratches. The labels are standard black & white Stiff company design and remain nice and clean with only light traces of spindle-wear.
Sleeve: Ex - great condition for its 40 years. Semi-gloss finished card sleeve. Black & white checked design with the repeated phrase, "Elvis Is King" printed in the chequered tiles. Original black & white photo on front cover with red artist/title lettering. Rear cover is plain green & carries track-listing in red with another black & white image of Elvis Costello in his trademark "Buddy Holly" pose.
Structurally, the sleeve is sound with no splits, creases or tears. The edges remain crisp, spine solid and all seams securely stuck down. Minor ring-wear evident.
Fantastic example of this scarce early-pressed copy and worth the start price alone for Alison & Red Shoes. (Check out other early pressed copies on here and Discogs)
