History
Ella in Berlin is a 1960 live album by the American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. This album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, which is a special Grammy award established in 1973 to honour recordings that are at least twenty-five years old, and that have "qualitative or historical significance."
One of Fitzgerald's most acclaimed live performances, at this concert in Berlin, Fitzgerald improvised lyrics for "Mack the Knife" after forgetting the original lyrics. In recognition of this, she received the Grammy for Best Female Vocal Performance (Single) and the Best Vocal Performance, Female (Album) at the 3rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Condition Report The Vinyl is described as Excellent & played to that grading in today's play-test... average background & no skips or stops. A few crackles and pops, but deep in the background & totally expected in such an old live recording. Spindle marks to both labels. There are a reasonable number of fine hairlines & sleeve marks to both sides of the record. The Vinyl has retained a fine waxy lustre. The Cover is described as VG+. There is some visible edge/spine & corner-wear. There are some fine cracks to spine & edges with associated wrinkles. There is ring-wear to front & verso. There are some colour & minor paper losses to edges & spine. There are some areas of foxing to front & verso. No seam splits. The Extremely Rare Verve Records Protective Company Sleeve which includes Ella Fitzgerald's name is in Excellent condition with no seam splits. Please see attached photos...price rating
