If anything I have graded this album on the safe side as collectors will always have slightly different interpretations on quality. An outstanding copy of this what is generally agreed as one of the handful of truly great Psych-Prog albums to ever grace a turntable.
This is the scarce Australian Young Blood label first pressing and just about every review rates this around the 4 out of 5 mark minimum.
Essentially it is an extraordinary heavy psych effort comprising of a solid mix of pretty heavy guitar driven material and lighter psychedelic rock ... and the result is simply awesome. Quality songwriting ; brilliant playing ; very much bass driven and genuinely psych ... terrific variety as well though no heavy blues for a pleasant change.
CONDITION : see 7 photos above.
Vinyl : only lightly played. Tracks along superbly with no skips and on listening intently on my Connoisseur I noticed 2 light pops throughout though in the main you can expect a bright clean playback ... very pleasing in fact. Barely a spindle trace here on either side and certainly worth an EX- (or strong VG+ if you prefer) overall. It retains plenty of shine both sides and looks a beauty which is reflected in the dynamic sound here.
Labels : Side 1 is clean / Side 2 has a sprinkling of some description as per photo above.
Sleeve :
FRONT :- original laminated gatefold front cover shapes up excellently. No edge-wear, the spine is intact and just a hint of age-wear (discolouring) near the entrance. No ring-wear, no writing and as good as one could hope for.
BACK :- unlaminated and therefore a slightly different story. A little edge-wear at top right corner. Noticeable light ring-wear. A small stained area at lower left but not overly noticeable. No writing. No splits of course and overall a more than acceptable cover ... perhaps even more-so for this rarity.
