Description
I have owned this from new when I won the album in an Apple sponsored raffle in 1969. It has been played once, and is in excellent used condition, along with the original sleeve and insert.
It is a genuine UK pressing of George Harrison’s Electronic Sound, with these key features:
1.Label: The album is on the Zapple label with the catalogue number ZAPPLE02. 2.Matrix numbers: The matrix number on side one is ZAPPLE 02A-1, and on side two ZAPPLE 02 B 1. 3.Release date: The original UK pressing was released on May 9, 1969. 4.Inner sleeve: Includes the original printed inner sleeve with the track listing. 5.Cover: The sleeve is fully laminated and feature George Harrison’s own design. 6.Label text: Both labels carry the ‘Sold in UK…’ text, which was removed from EMI products shortly after this album’s release. 7.Vinyl weight: The original pressing weighs approximately 140g. 8.Matrix codes: Stamper codes 1/G on one side and 1/A on the other.
George Harrison’s Electronic Sound was released on May 9, 1969, as the second and final album on The Beatles’ avant-garde Zapple Records label. The album is an experimental work featuring two extended tracks: “Under the Mersey Wall” and “No Time or Space”, both performed on a Moog IIIp synthesizer. It was one of the earliest electronic music albums by a rock musician, showcasing Harrison’s fascination with the Moog synthesizer, which he had purchased from its inventor, Robert Moog. The album’s creation was influenced by avant-garde trends in London and Los Angeles during the late 1960s, with “No Time or Space” originating from a Moog demonstration by Bernie Krause in Los Angeles in November 1968, and “Under the Mersey Wall” recorded at Harrison’s home in Surrey in February 1969
