Description
The Polite Force is the second of three albums recorded by Egg. This one I also purchased brand new in 1970. The band members, which were unchanged from their first LP, were Dave Stewart on organ, piano and tone generator, Mont Campbell on bass and vocals and Clive Brooks on drums. They were supplemented on track A2 “Contrasong“ by Bob Downes and Tony Roberts on tenor saxophone and Henry Lowther and Mike Davis on trumpet.
The back cover lists all the tracks and players on the LP, the lyrics to tracks A1 and A2, a short appraisal of the band written by Neil Slaven plus photos of the band members and Neil Slaven.
The LP has been cleaned, played and checked for sound quality on a Pro-Ject turntable with an ADC cartridge. Both sides are visually excellent while the sound quality is excellent throughout and significantly better than their first LP. The only audible defect heard was one subtle click towards the end of side 1.
Side 1 is stamped ZAL 10066.P-1W
Side 2 is stamped ZAL 10067.P-1W
The original inner sleeve is in good condition but there are a few creases and some discolouration around the edges. The front cover is in very good condition. The back cover is in good condition with just one crease towards the top right corner and some discolouration towards the edges. The top inside edges of the front and back of the cover are just starting to separate at the outer edge due to the glue starting to dry out.
The LP will be shipped via Royal Mail’s Special Delivery service in a stiff cardboard LP mailing carton. UK buyers only. No Buy It Now price will be accepted.
