This limited edition LP album by Edwin Starr is a must-have for fans of disco funk and 1970s soul and funk. The album is a reissue of the classic "War And Peace" release from Motown, and features English and French language lyrics. The LP is 12" in size and has a speed of 33 RPM. It features a variety of instruments including guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and electric guitar. The album is graded as Mint (M) for both the record and sleeve, and comes with a catalogue number of 620871. One of the most popular protest albums every recorded, it inspired cover versions of its songs by such artists as Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bruce Springsteen, and The Jam, and was sampled by the Beastie Boys, among others.
Includes Edwin Starr's signature song, the smash hit "War" (penned by Norman Whitfield & Barrett Strong), which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970. The song earned Starr a Grammy nomination in 1971 for Best R&B Male Vocal and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. It also includes the Northern Soul classic "Time," the one-step dance "Running Back and Forth," and a great cover of The 5th Dimension's "California Soul."
