This beautiful and rare LP from La Voix de son Maitre (FALP 357 heavy French pressing, red/silver semi-circle label – ED1, “baguette” jacket, dowel spine, Cassandre cover design, mono, booklet included) features legendary pianist Edwin Fischer in mesmerizing accounts of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas No. 7 D Major Op. 10 No. 3 and No. 32 in C minor Op. 111.
Both works were recorded at EMI Studio No. 3, Abbey Road, London, on 18-20 May 1954 (producer: Nicholas Boyle / engineer: Robert Beckett) and 60 years on remain landmarks in the Beethoven discography.
These performances can be spoken of in the same breath as those by Schnabel, Solomon, Serkin, et al. This is exalted pianism by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the piano will find much to admire and re-discover here – truly remarkable.
Included is a small 12-page booklet with extensive notes on the music by Gilbert Amy, printed in French only.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT+. There is minor wear at corners and along the edges, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects. This is close to NM – a very fine collector’s copy.
The condition of both the dowel spine/sleeve is similarly EX – really, no flaws to speak of.
The condition of the booklet is VG. There is a small bit of writing to the front, but that is all.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is enjoyable. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
