The Beatles
Yellow Submarine
VERY 1st PRESS UK STEREO
PCS 7070
(Another from my personal collection)
Incredibly early press with 1/M Mothers/Stamper.
RED LINES TO COVER & ORIGINAL BLACK INNER
Roll up, roll up all ye Beatles fans....Ready to be re-released by Disney in the near future as a 3D remake, it's The Beatles' YELLOW SUBMARINE....
This was The Beatles' eleventh official album release and interestingly enough, the first album of theirs to included non-Beatles material. Released, after a delay, in mid January 1969, the album made it up the UK charts to the 3rd position....With The Beatles' 'White' album denying it the top slot.
There were only modest sales-in comparison with other Beatles releases-as the sales were around 800,000 within the first three months, but it did go over1 million sales by the end of the year. This could have had something to do with the album having only four original tracks and the rest was George Martin's film score.
So, here's the details of this album up for auction:
Catalogue number: PCS 7070
Matrix Numbers side 1: YEX 715-1
Matrix Numbers side 2: YEX 716-1
As you can see...It's the very first pressing...NOW LOOK AT THESE MOTHERS/STAMPERS:
Mothers/Stampers side 1: 1 M
Mothers/Stampers side 2: 3 GG
VERY EARLY PRESSING INDEED!
Vinyl:
QUALITY 139g
EX!
There are only a couple of incredibly light and small to this slab quality of original vinyl..
After giving her a gentle vaccum clean,I played her all the way through and found a wonderfully deep and rich sound reproduction.
The starting chord shines out gorgeously in my right monitor speaker and continues on with utter clarity, rich audio.
I barely noticed ANY background noise at all....I did notice a slight wobble to the vinyl when playing side 1 but nothing to affect playback and it wasn't visible or audible when playing side 2 either...I have shown this from the most prominant side in the video attached-I am not hiding anything as it didn't affect playback on my deck, as you can hear in the clip provided.
NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AT ALL Lovely audio.
Lables:
EX!
She has the all important statement "Sold in the U.K...." showing it is a first press as well as "Mfd. in U.K."...If you needed any more convincing other than those
HUGELY EARLY MOTHERS/STAMPERS.
Nice dark 1st printing run Apple, rather than the later lighter ones.
Only a couple of very faint and light spindle marks, which are really only visible when angled towards the light and really looking for them.
With minimal central hole wear-please see the detailed images for yourselves-these beauties are ready for framing.
NO WRITING OR LIFTING
THIS VINYL REPRESENTS EXACTLY HOW THE BEATLES WANTED YOU TO HEAR THIS ICONIC ALBUM.
Very displayable...Very playable ;-)
GORGEOUS
Cover:
EX
It is the original cover 1st printing cover, with it's original creamy colour, rather than the later white background.
Has the two red lines above and below the text to the back.
Even the back card REMAINS WHITE!!
The flipbacks are in great condition too, with their lovely rounded edges..The bottom right has a slight crease but I am being very critical here.
It has the GARROD & LOFTHOUSE credit and Patent Number: 943.895.
There are just a small handfull of small lines of spidering to the front laminate: please see the images provided, with some small fingers of spidering...LOOKS GREAT!
The corners have just minimal light rubbing/knocking to them.
*NO WRITING ANYWHERE*
SUPERB strong & LEGIBLE spine.
*FREE FROM RIPS/SPLITS OR TEARS*
THE ORIGINAL COLOURS REMAIN RICH FROM THE DAY SHE WAS BORN
Please see the detailed photo's for yourselves and read my feedback for happy customers and fair gradings.
Inner:
EX
It is the original BLACK die-cut inner which is the earliest you could hope to find.
NO SPLITS
In great shape and has certainly done her job by looking after this slab of vinyl for the last 53 years!
All in all it is a VERY rare, VERY first pressing of a wonderful album. She is one heck of a rare beauty, sounds great and remains alltogether in her ORIGINALITY!!!
SAD TO SEE HER GO.....
