Description

ETHEL WATERS - Shades of Blue - RARE 1946 Continental 3-record Set 33

Continental Album 33, 78 RPM, 3-record Set. Includes 10006 thru 10008.

ETHEL WATERS - Shades of Blue.

1946 issue; recorded in New York, April 16, 1946.

Records are in E- / V++ condition, bit of a warp not affecting play except on "Man Wanted" where the needle may jump just at the start if you have a light weight tone arm. A penny placed on the tone arm fixes this. The other 5 sides play perfectly without the penny. Labels are good. Binder is in Good Condition, shelf wear, light musty scent, probably from being stored in a basement as so many old collections have been. Binder Spine is intact and tight.

Personnel:

J.C. Heard's Orchestra

Ethel Waters (vcl) acc by George Treadwell (tp) Dickie Harris (tb) Ray Perry (vln,as) Reggie Beane (p) Mary Osborne (g) Al McKibbon (b) J.C. Heard (d)

Guitarist Mary Osborne is outstanding on these sides.

Tracks are:

  • Am I Blue

  • Dinah

  • Cabin in the Sky

  • Taking a Chance on Love

  • You Took My Man

  • Man Wanted

Terrific and Scarce 1946 Ethel Waters Jazz Album Set in Very Nice Condition.
