ERIC DOLPHY "Out to Lunch!" Blue Note "New York USA," RVG, Stereo Vinyl
This is "Van Gelder"-stamped, New York USA pressing of ERIC DOLPHY's "Out to Lunch!" on the "New York USA" labels of Blue Note 84163. Musicians include Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Richard Davis, Tony Williams.
This VINYL plays with consistent low to medium-level surface noise and some groovewear, well beneath the music. Handful of hairline marks, none feelable. Instruments are dynamic, clear transients, powerful. No distortion. No skips. No warps. Both sides have good gloss. The New York USA labels are very clean, with small numerical writing. See photos.
COVER is in very good shape, minor wear. Round paper tear from sticker, top left corner. Corners worn. Top and bottom seams and spine are practically perfect; there is wear, but no splits. See photos. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket is in nice, clean condition. Minor ringwear present. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
