From an inherited collection, this is a very rare, original copy of the New Jazz, Eric Dolphy Lp "Far Cry with Booker Little" (NJ 8270). I have scoured the internet and haven't seen one other copy of this 1st release/pressing for sale. There are lots of reissues available. The vinyl looks beautiful. You have to look very closely to see any tiny imperfections. There is one tiny little scratch/imperfection near the end of It's Magic (doesn't affect playback) Please see the pic. I played both sides all the way through and it sounds great. In the sparse, quiet sections you can hear a bit of typical surface noise but this record is pretty loud. I heard one medium pop on side A, cut 3. There is one pop on side B, cut 2, and a couple others on cut 3. You can see a few spindle marks on the side B label; side A has none.
The sleeve presents as a pretty strong VG+. There is a very small punch hole in the upper right corner. There are no sleeve splits. The top edge shows a little wear, especially the top left corner and a bit on the upper right corner. The other three edges are very clean. The corners are a bit bumped. The upper left corner is most pronounced, along with the edge wear on the top corner.  The other corners have very small bumps. The inner sleeve is bright white but you can tell it's the original sleeve because it also has the punch hole. The manufacturer of this record missed the mark a little bit as it looks like the spine text didn't quite make it onto the spine and instead displays on the back side. Perhaps that was intentional, as the cover is very thin and the font wouldn't have fit properly on the spine anyhow Please view the pics. Record will be shipped in a proper Lp mailer with stiffeners, disc placed in a poly sleeve and with corner protection.
From rateyourmusicdotcom: When Bob Weinstock founded his first label in 1949 it was originally named New Jazz, but within a year the Prestige name had taken prominence and New Jazz ceased production by the early 50s. Prestige revitalized the New Jazz name in 1959 to highlight jazz musicians who were not known as leaders or were bringing a new approach to the new music. The last titles from New Jazz appeared in 1964.
