Arguably Carl Craigs first album, featuring all those magic moments that make up the beginning of a techno legend, but also offering up the rarest and most sought after tracks from Detroit’s rarest label, Retroactive. Just a few of the tracks listed ‘Suspiria’, ‘Wrap Me In Its Arms’ , ‘Sitting Under A Tree’ are enough to fetch shivers to any serious Detroit head, especially on this release, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen one and I’ve been collecting Detroit records for a decade. You need it, its essential as anything, ‘No More Words’ is just the epitome of a Carl Craig record, amazing strings, warm emotive synths, solid drums, and that certain club vibe you get from his productions. Placid Angles aka John Beltran drops the amazing whale sampling ‘Aquatic’ with its fat acid bass and ace 4/4 pattern, a proper old skool hit. Likewise the rest, you cannot fault the music, the only note of caution is the sound, its not been repressed very well, and the tracks are very quiet, plus the labels have been scanned or photocopied. Repressers out there take note, REMASTER, this is an amazing record and deserves the time to be spent on it. Apart from that - utter genius.
