Description: Monster rare and a truly holy grail LP that only few (and very lucky) collectors known or even own. One of my favourite record ever. Talented vibraphonist and percussionist out of Sicily, Palermo, Enzo Randisi self pressed album (according to the studio owner less than 100 copies were distributed during the music tour in Palermo) is a truly masterpiece of the genre. A superb infected mix of cosmic jazz funk, heavy fender rhodes by Riccardo Randisi (son of Enzo), ethnic influenced jazz, mellow jazz vibraphon and heavy afro percussions superior to the Mayafra combo trio or Cabildos three. “Probu Zeni” is a delicious mix of all these elements, something that you can compare to the top rare album of James Mason “Rhythm of life” on Chiaroscuro label or Roy Ayers Ubiquity “Mystic Voyage”. This LP is a trip through the beautiful Sicily and it’s underground jazz scene, “Etna Sud” (my favourite track of the whole LP) is a clear example, with a superb heavy funk bass outro by Giuseppe Costa. Additional informations: Acclaimed as one of the most importat vibraphonist of the world, Enzo Randisi was a key session man behind many records by top jazz musicians like Gianni Basso, Chet Baker, Salvatore Bonafede, Gil Cuppini, Franco D’Andrea, Stefano D’Anna, Bobby Durham, Massimo Faraò, Pierre Favret, Sergio Fanni, Frank Foster, Stan Getz, Dusko Goykovich, Stephane Grappelli, Al Grey, Joe Heider, Enrico Intra, John Lewis, Claudio Lo Cascio, Giovanni Mazzarino, Dado Moroni, Romano Mussolini, Sal Nistico, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bill Russo, Diane Shuur, Bob Wilbur e Mimmo Cafiero. Still today Palermo celebrate the best and talented artists of the jazz scene with an important festival/exhibition called "premio Enzo Randisi" organized by The Brass Group.
Conditions: Original gatefold picture sleeve cover is VG/VG+, a little warped the front cover probably caused by stain but there are no residue. Moderate ringwear on the top and back cover. Internal pictures are clear and allmost perfect. Record is VG/EX, some superficial light marks typical of this micro self press copies, needs to be cleaned properly. Some background noises throughout, but very enjoyable sound. Label is clean.
