Description

ENGLISH WITH A DIALECT AND IRISH, SCOTTISH & WELSH ACCENTS -- ex. rare, original 1971 U.K. album.  Fascinating LP of BBC field recordings, aimed at actors to demonstrate local accents in Birmingham, the Black Country, Cornwall, Cotswolds etc. as well as Wales, Ireland and Scotland.  What makes this so amazing, though, is the recordings themselves, mainly rural, plain-spoken people (many quite old) discussing long-gone traditions in their local villages; some even break into age-old folk songs (!)  An incredible snapshot of by-gone people and traditions in little-known corners of England and the U.K.  This was only sold in the U.K. and never commercially available in the U.S. to my knowledge.  Cover:  VG+, light ring wear, light creasing and separation around corners in lamination.  Record:  VG/VG+, several light-to-moderate surface marks, light surface wear, on BBC Records label, U.K. pressing.
