ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK
“CUANDO ME ENAMORO”
(“When I Fall In Love”)
(A Man Without Love)
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original London “Full Frequency Range Recording” (ffrr) Records very first High Fidelity Mono press released by London Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1969 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records, Chile), licensed from London Records Inc., USA, catalog number LLC-38548, with machine etched matrix number ARL-8386-3B 1 21 SMA in Side A and ARL-8387-1A 1 3 3C SMC in Side B, with traditional green/black London “ffrr” Records labels of the period, with big London “ffrr” Records logo at top. Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!
“A Man Without Love” is the third album by Engelbert Humperdinck and was originally released in 1968 in the UK, and we had to wait until 1969 to see this album released here in Chile and, like usual in the period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded at the bottom edge, with two single sheets of paper attached, not glued, to the cardboard for front and back covers, and kept all held for an outer plastic bag, which’s also part of the cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original UK artwork and design, with the only differences that in Chile the album and song titles are written in Spanish only, with blue boxed London Records logo instead original UK “Decca” logo, at top right corner. Back cover is totally different, it has the album title written in Spanish only and the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, except “Cuando, Cuando, Cuando”, which’s written in Spanish only, with full credits for music directors of each song and producer and engineer of the album, with original liner notes by Godfrey Winn written in Spanish and the album “Release Me” by Engelbert Humperdinck, with a small black and white picture of the cover included, recommended, with boxed London Records logo at top right corner and catalog number at bottom right corner and additional information about licenses. In labels, the album title is written in Spanish only and tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English and also to Italian or French, when applicable, except “Cuando, Cuando, Cuando”, which’s translated to Italian only, “Quando, Quando, Quando”, with full credits for songwriters and for rights society of each side, “COMAR”, with additional right society “BIEM” for only some songs and information about licenses. Some facts to notice about this Chilean album is that word “COMAR” proves this Chilean record comes licensed from Argentina or maybe it’s an error, because later Chilean pressings omitted “COMAR”. The labels are overprinted as clearly seen above the catalog number and two songs have a letter “missed” in labels, “From Here To ETER ITY” and “Quando, QU NDO, Quando”. The songwriters of “Cuando Me Enamoro” (the Spanish title of song “A Man Without Love”, originally “Quando M'Innamoro” in Italian) in Chile are only for Roberto Livraghi, Daniele Pace and Mario Panzeri, the name of the English lyricist Barry Mason, included in original UK version, is omitted (considering the title used in Chile, they also omitted the Spanish lyricist José Enrique Okamura). For song “From Here To Eternity”, written by Frederick Karger and Robert Wells, the name of Karger is misspelled “KERGER”. The song “A Man And A Woman” also has the original French songwriters informed, Pierre Barouh and Francis Lai, the name of the English lyricist, Jerry Keller, included in original UK issue, is omitted. And the song “Quando, Quando, Quando”, in original UK issue, has Tony Renis, Alberto Testa and Pat Boone as songwriters (Pat Boone is the English lyricist for the “Tell Me When” version, even though some sources affirm that lyrics was really written by Ervin Drake), but in this Chilean issue the songwriters informed are Alberto Testa, Tony Renis, GESARI and ANGIOLINI (Renato Angiolini?). So, here you have the chance to get and own this classic album by Engelbert Humperdinck, in this MEGARARE CHILEAN VERY FIRST PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN, with Spanish-written album and song titles and with UNIQUE ERRORS, a record known but maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time in this very first press. WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Pop and Traditional/Vocal Easy Listening music of the ‘60’s and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Engelbert Humperdinck!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great EX+ or even NM- condition, clean and clear, with only minimal wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with some very faint creases, minimal age browning and a pair of micro rips at bottom edge of back cover, the small stain that you can see in back cover, at right side of the “Release Me” cover, it’s on the plastic, not on the paper. The outer plastic bag is in EX- or even EX condition, with some little rips, the most evident in back cover, caused when the original owner opened the plastic bag, a bit dirty in edges, but clean and with all seams intact, it has protected the fragile papers very well. The record is in strong EX or even EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some very soft scuffs and minimal light hairlines, mostly hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. The labels are in great NM or even NM+ condition both sides, clean and clear, with not even minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX or even EX+ condition the Side A, loud, clean and clear, virtually no background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), with occasional and mostly barely audible soft crackles here and there, more evident in some silent parts and between tracks, and in EX- or EX condition the Side B, almost same condition as Side A, but with the soft crackles a little more present, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to end. Overall, this is a great record by Engelbert Humperdinck in this MEGARARE CHILEAN VERY FIRST PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN, with UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE, with Spanish-written album and song titles, COMPLETE WITH THE OUTER PLASTIC BAG and with UNIQUE ERRORS, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure it’s still in a great condition, with a very nice cover and with the record still glossy, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 56 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! And keep in mind this is the authentical very first Chilean press!!! What a find!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (September 2024)
Because the UK’s tax authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), requires eBay collect VAT information from sellers with UK customers, I’ve been informed that I need to have a “valid UK VAT number on file” to sell to UK customers. As I live in Chile and all my items are shipped from Chile, I don’t have an “UK VAT number”, so I’m sorry to inform that I’M FORCED TO EXCLUDE THE UK FROM MY WORLDWIDE SHIPPING POLICY. If you live in the UK and you’d like to bid/buy some of my records, please contact me, I’m sure we could find some solution.
If you have some doubt or question, feel free to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this item.
