Here's a copy of the very hard to find "You'll never walk alone" Lp that allegedly was made for Scandinavian export from the UK, where it was pressed and printed in 1971. Some sources say it comes in a "withdrawn" sleeve that was immediately deleted, yet a few copies were exported to Sweden. Being i resident of Stockholm/Sweden I can vouch for this being a major rarity here as well. I don't know the true story of this version but I do know that it is seen as a major rarity for Elvis collectors. Record collector valued this pressing at £1.000 a few years back I hear, but in my humble opinion that's a bit over the top. Then again, I don't know for sure how rare this record really is.
This is overall a very nice copy. The record plays great! I've played it through all the way and there's a few faint clicks and pops here and there. Absolutely no sticks or skips of any kind. Some mild distortion can be heard, especially for a few seconds in the middle of "It is no secret (What God can do)" but I deem this being a slight pressing flaw. It doesn't take away from the listening pleasure in any way. The playback is better than VG+. I'd say it plays excellent all the way through. Visually there's 2 faint surface scratches to the naked eye on side 2. None of them are feelable or audible in the slightest. There's some hairlines on both sides that have appeared from removing the disc from its inner bag. It has definately not been played many times I'd say.
The light blue RCA Camden labels are both in immaculate condition. Mint!
The sleeve is pressed by Clout & Baker in England and has a laminated front and unlaminated back. The front (that depicts the elusive Elvis image) is super nice and clean. Some moderate creasings, maybe 3-4 small indentations, but it's still shiny and nice. No lamination peel or anything like that. The back is still white but has a bit of yellowing from age. There's a crease top left and some smudging to the top right corner and the bottom right corner, but it's still in very presentable condition. Both sides of the sleeve has a seal sticker that I haven't tried to remove. I'll leave that up to you. There's some moderate ringwear on both sides but now I'm being very picky. Most sellers would grade this as EX- or something like that. The spine is close to perfect and fully legible. All corners are nice and crisp and displays no signs of wear and tear whatsoever.
The inner bag looks like a typical RCA inner bag from the early 1970's and I believe this is the correct original inner bag for this release.
All in all this is a keeper copy in my opinion. The regular UK version of "You'll never walk alone" is all over Ebay but I couldn't find ANY other copy of this version presented here AT ALL! This is the only one available as it is!
