Description
ELVIS PRESLEY SUN 210 45 RPM GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT 1954 VG/VG+
Description:
For sale is a rare version of Elvis Presley's 1954 original single 7” 45 RPM record released as Sun 210, with “Good Rockin' Tonight” b/w “I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine”.
This record was acquired from the 2006 Regency Stamps, Ltd. auction of the Jim Curtin Elvis Presley Collection. Jim Curtin was internationally recognized as owning the definitive collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia. More info at https://www.regencystamps.com/PressRelease/CurtinBio.pdf
The label includes: "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine" (Mack David)“Famous ASCAP U-130, Vocal 2:27” on one side, and "Good Rockin' Tonight" (Roy Brown).“U-131, Vocal 2:10” on the other. A certificate of authenticity from The Jim Curtin Collection and Regency Stamps, Ltd is included with the sale.
- It has three “push marks” on each side under the label.
-Original brown sleeve is included (a repro Sun Records disc jacket will also be sent to the buyer for display purposes).
- Both labels are clean and in “very good” condition. There is a small ink mark on the “Good Rockin’ Tonight” side to the right of “Mempis, Tennessee”. See photo.
- Vinyl is in “good condition”. Both sides were played with no skipping, but some hissing. Rather than try and "clean" the record, I would prefer to leave that to the buyer as I am not familiar with safe and appropriate steps for cleaning vinyl.
- This version of the label is considered a “third pressing”, with only Elvis Presley listed as the artist (no “SCOTTY and BILL”), and the number 210 printed directly below the artist name. Note that the type font used for the song titles and artist name is a compressed bold version, similar to the earlier pressings, but without the reference to "Scotty and Bill" or "with Scotty and Bill". I have not been able to find a photo that shows this label configuration.
- The matrix numbers are stamped about 1/4" to the right of the label; one side reads "U-130-45 72", and the other "U-131-45 72". The distance between the numbers “45” and “72” on each side is a bit less than ½".
