Description

A great opportunity to buy an ORIGINAL copy of a VINYL LP from the 50's by Elvis Presley called "Rock 'n' Roll".

This is Elvis's first U.K. LP and is on the original H.M.V. plum label with the Nipper logo in colour and with gold print. It has "The Gramophone Co Ltd" printed at the start of the perimeter text.

A mint copy of this rarity has a current book value of £500.

This is a U.K. pressing released in 1956 on the H.M.V. label (CLP 1093 mono). It has a total of 12 tracks:-

Side One:- Blue Suede Shoes; I Got A Sweetie (I Got A Woman); I'm Counting On You; I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone; That's All Right; Money Honey.

Side Two:- Mystery Train; I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You); Tryin' To Get You; One Sided Love Affair; Lawdy, Miss Clawdy; Shake, Rattle And Roll.

Visually the vinyl is in a clean condition, but has obviously been played many times. I always grade records under a strong light and it is clear there are many surface marks and scuffs on the vinyl, though nothing too deep as far as any scratches are concerned.

I have played the record right the way through and it plays without sticking or jumping. There is however surface noise evident throughout both sides and it is a real shame that such a great album is reduced, in the most critical terms, to being only in Fair condition.

The record is perfectly flat and has no warps of any description.

The matrix numbers are:- 2XAV 255-1N  and  2XAV 256-1N.

The labels have an ink stamp mark on both sides, otherwise they are free from any major defects.

The record is housed in a plain inner sleeve.

The picture cover is a laminated flip-back sleeve, but only in FAIR condition I'm afraid.  There is noticeable wear along all 4 edges and corners, the spine is split where the title would have been and the flipbacks on the rear cover have signs of wear. Ring-wear is evident when tilted towards the light and there is some laminate missing near the opening edge.

These deficiencies should not detract from what is a great example of Elvis's music and I hope this will still appeal to collectors and could fill a gap in any collection.
