"Rock 'N' Roll" (No. 2) LP - ELVIS PRESLEY (UK His Master's Voice CLP 1105)

Original 1957 UK MONO LP. Here's the legendary UK HMV 1st pressing of ELVIS' killer 2nd album, in all it's slick, laminated cover glory. In it's 58+-year existence, this copy has been thoroughly enjoyed by the previous owner(s), as witnessed by the well-worn disc & fairly abused cover. That said, there still is a pretty fair amount of life left in this nugget. The super thick vinyl plays MUCH better than it looks & the notoriously flimsy, thin cover, while pretty shabby, still looks somewhat presentable, all things considered. In addition, the maroon HMV 'Nipper' deep groove label looks awful sweet & it's so great to see that nobody ever wrote their name (or anything else) on the cover or the label, remarkably enough. All-in-all, a respectable starter copy of this renowned monster.

Disc = G (hairlines galore, scuffs aplenty + there is a lite, thin scratch in track 4 on side 1 that extends partially into track 5 - this scratch is virtually inaudible during "LTS," due to it's loudness, but there are a few revolutions of lite pops during the beginning of "FIL"; NO deep gouges, NO skips - the disc actually sounds A TON BETTER than it looks. Scattered pops & clicks (most noticeable in the quieter tracks, of course), some background noise (slightly crackly during "Rip It Up," but much better thru rest of disc), but: NO distortion, NO groove wear, NO obnoxious extraneous noise - the music is MUCH more pronounced than the background clutter, really - all in all, a fairly satisfying listen, at least to these ears...

Labels = see pix; wear around centre hole; many, many lite spindle marks by centre hole, several extending far out onto the label; includes R T tax code by centre hole on side 1; any questions?, please ask

Cover = see pix; diagonal tear from top edge on front, near upper right corner (see close up pic); 1" tear from spine left edge on front; lamination cracking from edges on front; 2" piece of flipback missing in middle of back bottom edge; split/hole in middle of spine (see pic);  any questions?, please ask
