Description

Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!
I've collected 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between for all my life!!! Obviously, 90% of the LP's I've ever gotten hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? Reluctantly, I've decided to offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!! I'm currently trying to set up a record label so unfortunately personal sacrifices have to be made when it comes to my collection, resulting in GREAT benefits for all you shrewd bidders and serious connosieurs of TRUE solid gold music history out there!!! Make no mistake, I'll try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay, many which have taken me YEARS to find!!!
I aim to put a weekly batch up (time permitting) every Wednesday, all timed to end 10 days later on Saturday night. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZINGMOST IMPORTANTVERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I've got!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered",weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).
I try to be one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and I'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!
I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!

Title : Elvis Presley - Rock 'N' Roll No. 2

Label & year : Original HMV CLP 1105 LP , UK Mono 1957 INCREDIBLY RARE 1st Press!!!

Matrix's : Side A : G2-WP-7207-2N , Side B : G2-WP-7208-1N

IMPOSSIBLY RARE SECOND LP FROM ROCK 'N' ROLL'S ULTIMATE LEGEND!!! On offer here is THE very second Elvis LP released 57 YEARS AGO!!! To say that this UK 1st Press is IMPOSSIBLY RARE would be an understatement!!! This is his rarest UK LP EVER!!!

UNFORTUNATELY the record itself has an edge warp, which makes the first track on each side partly unplayable, HOWEVER the OUTRAGEOUSLY RARE fully laminated flipback sleeve is in utterly PHENOMENAL condition!!! By far the greatest example of this IMPOSSIBLE sleeve I’ve ever seen by miles!!! 100% intact with NO tears OR pieces missing WHATSOEVER!!!

SO hard to find such a MAGNIFICENT example of this sleeve - do NOT miss out on this magnificent piece of true Rock 'n' Roll history!!!

"Before Elvis, there was nothing" - John Lennon

About : Ultra Rare Original 1957 UK 1st Press!!! This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything (LP's were also really expensive to most people back then!!!) and therefore had a very small run, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! AN absolute classic LP from this incredible legend!!! An astonishing album that really DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP!!! If you like good music, bid now!!!

The LP :

Labels :

Classic UK 1st Press ridged “R T" HMV labels!!! Both sides are OUTSTANDING with NO real signs of age, NO graffiti, and NO writing OR tears whatsoever!!! Just has a small amount of ultra light spindle marks which suggests that this hasn't had too much play at all!!! FANTASTIC for a 57 year old record!!! Both must grade overall at least as Excellent!!!

Record : Visual -

Spectacular Original 1957 UK 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks GREAT with NO really nasty scratches, groovewear, or nasty deep scuffs whatsoever!!! HOWEVER there is an edge warp which cases about 80% of track one side one and about 60% of track one side two to be unplayable, but other than that, the only blemishes are just some light wispy sleeve traces, a couple of small hairlines and minor age marks, and just a small amount of cosmetic non-sounding and unfeelable scuffs (only visible in direct angled light) mostly caused from where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these other ULTRA light blemishes really interfere with play AT ALL!!! Without the edge warp, it would grade overall as Very Good minus, but to take the edge warp into account, I guess I’ll grade it as Fair (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)

Record : Audio -

Thankfully, it plays mostly BRILLIANTLY with fantastic mono blast and clarity!!! Although 80% of track one side one and about 60% of track one side two is unplayable due to the edge warp, it otherwise sounds great with NO hops, hisses, sticks OR skips!!! Only (like pretty much all records) has a touch of low level static in places such as on the run in grooves, a rotational tick that’s audible for about half of Old Shep, only a touch of mild frequency crackle here and there on very rare occasions such as on parts of the First In Line vocal as is almost always the case with this LP (mild and nothing too drastic at all), and just a touch of mild "bluesman's fag" static crackle in few and far between places such as on some of the quieter sections and between tracks, but it really doesn't overshadow the music AT ALL!!! (it's much more soft and atmospheric rather than the sound of bacon frying!!!) I'd even argue it gives it added soul!!! I tend to bring it down by listing every single flaw I noticed, but this remains a hugely enjoyable and awesome sounding listen - The music is TRULY loud and clear with that bass, depth, warmth and clarity you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl!!! AMAZING for a record of this age and rarity!!! Without the edge warp writing off parts of the first track on either side, it would grade overall as Very Good, but to take the edge warp into account, I guess I’ll grade it as Fair (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)

Sleeve :

Original UK 1957 HMV laminated flipback sleeve complete with original inner!!! IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn and worn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT, and looks OUTSTANDING, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO really bad marks AT ALL, NO seam splits, and still ultra strong and solid after all these years!!! This sleeve only has a few signs of ULTRA mild ageing such as just a tiny amount of ultra light tiny edge creases and the VAGUEST ghost of a record imprint, a small amount of minor laminate flaking in places (you can see a small little segment of loose laminate hanging off the top right of the back flipback in the picture - it will peel right off to give it a clean sharp look, but I’ll leave that to you as I don’t like to tamper with such rarities) some hanging offand the most minor ageing to the still ultra bright white unlaminated back such as the very vaguest creaming and hint of dusting to the flip back tips (absolutely minimal - NOTHING drastic and NO stains, graffiti, grubbiness or anything like that at all!!!), a slight touch of denting to the four corners which basically ALL vintage LP's have, and POSSIBLY (just to be sure!!!) one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all!!! And that's truly about it!!! I tend to bring it down by listing the most minor negatives I can possibly find, but this is a truly OUTSTANDING sleeve, and a SERIOUS rarity to find one as fantastic as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! EASILY the greatest example i've ever seen!!! It remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit and unspoilt, and even the spine remains strong, solid, unspoilt  and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall at least as Very Good++++ (no doubt many would grade higher due to it’s age and sheer rarity)!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)

Summary : A partly flawed vinyl, but an OUTRAGEOUSLY PHENOMENAL example of the IMPOSSIBLE sleeve of this INCREDIBLY RARE classic original 1957 HMV CLASSIC Mono UK 1st Press LP!!! Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND A SLEEVE AS UTTERLY MAGNIFICENT AS THIS!!! YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!! Bid now!!!

Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it's truly appreciated!! Cheers!!!

I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional mild mark and minor use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable, yet light visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!

Postage and packing (UK bidders) will be £4.49 for the first item, £3.00 for every item after that. International buyers, postage is £8.99 for the first item, £3.00 for every item after that. Contact is expected to be made within 3 days, and payment usually expected within 7 days of the auction ending, otherwise you may lose priority over the item and it may be relisted e.t.c.
