There’s not much I can say about this LP that hasn’t already been said and the chances are that you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t already know it's pedigree.
However just in case, a couple of reminders. It was recorded in 1956 – 11 tracks in Hollywood, 1 in New York - and this particular copy was released in the UK in 1957.
I personally purchased this very album from Joe Marsh’s Record Shop on the corner of Chapel Road and Norwood High Street, London SE 27 in ’57 (having saved up my pocket money). It has stayed with me ever since. You will already know of the album’s rarity but this one has a big bonus, the sound! Should you be looking for faithful reproduction this is the one for you. There is not a mark on the vinyl, I will re-emphasise that – not a mark! Have a look at the pictures and see the reflection of the clouds in the vinyl. I have just played it (the first time for a couple of years – the last time was to record it for a friend who wanted the true sound straight from the vinyl) and there are no clicks, fuzzing or background noises, indeed I would be so bold as to say it's almost perfect. The reason for its excellent condition is that when I first bought it, apart from two tracks, I didn’t really like it at the time (I know – heresy) so it didn’t get played or passed around. It is stored in the original inner sleeve and the cover is in pretty good shape for a 47 year old record. There are absolutely no tears, scuffs or sticky tape, the only blemish is on the front with a few spots of something (as shown on the photograph). From viewing the few other copies that have become available I can confidently say that this is up there with the best.
The record itself plays well with no skips or jumps during the songs, there are no noticeable marks or scratches or anything of the like that I can see, however I'm not an avid record collector or seller thus I can only go on what I see in front of me.
the item has not been written on in any way nor has it been damaged beyond repair, my less than stellar photography skills don't really do it justice admittedly however more pictures are available upon request as in any further info in this or any other of my listings, I do wish you all the best of luck bidding on this and any other of my items.
Please note the low start price does not reflect the value of the item, I just like to give people the chance to get a good bargain!
I am selling these items in the faith that they have been stored as best as possible over the years, I like to ensure both quality customer service and high quality goods for all concerned in the unlikely event that there is ANY problem with your purchase at all please discuss this with me rationally and privately so we may assure any issues or grievances are settled between us quickly and quietly.
