THE STORY BEHIND THE RECORD
This incredibly rare Elvis Presley EP (RCA Victor / EPA 30 - 092), released in May 1964, is a remarkable collector's item with a intriguing backstory.
It was part of RCA Italy's test-marketing effort to revive interest in the Extended Play 45rpm format, which had begun to lose popularity by the mid-1960s. Unfortunately, even Elvis himself no longer held the same appeal in this format at the time, and the initiative was a commercial failure, marking it as the final Elvis EP made by RCA in Italy.
Of the 500 copies pressed, the vast majority were returned and destroyed shortly after.
Surviving copies - like this one - are nearly impossible to find. With only one copy has ever been sold on eBay selling for $4500, it’s clear this EP holds immense value for collectors. Even without its original sleeve, this EP remains exceptionally rare and highly sought after, making it a true gem for any serious Elvis enthusiast.
RECORD CONDITION
While the record shows some marks and signs of use typical for its age, it still retains its VG condition, great shine and an enjoyable listening experience. The labels are in excellent condition - clean and vibrant!
It plays beautifully, with only mild crackle during quieter moments that is subtle and never overpowers the music. You can listen to it below through clips I personally recorded from this very record.
Comes with the rare original 1960-s RCA Italian sleeve. While the sides are partially split, the sleeve maintains its vintage appeal and remains an authentic piece of RCA Victor Italy's history from the 1960-s.
