Description
ELVIS PRESLEY; HMV DLP 1159, THE BEST OF ELVIS (10" LP, 1957) sleeve & cover mint £375
The above grades are the previous owners grading of this record and sleeve with book valuation.
My cautious grading of this record, Vinyl/Sleeve = Ex/Ex
Supplied with a heavy duty outer polythene sleeve.
Check the value of this record in Goldmine or Rare Record Price Guide.
With over 6,400 positive feedbacks and in my 6th year on ebay you can buy from me with confidence.
I have years of experience selling vinyl records and I normally understate my gradings.
A cleaning service is available on a Moth Mark II or Nitty Gritty 2.5Fi Record Cleaning Machine for 0.99GBP per 12" record and includes a new poly lined plain white sleeve, obviously the original sleeve will also be supplied.
GRADING SYSTEM
Record Collector Magazine (UK equivalent of Goldmine) Grading System.
MINT (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or defaced.
POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler.
Grading can be fine tuned by adding + or - (or Near Mint)
Money back, no quibble guarantee.
The records and sleeves are visually graded through magnifying glasses under a 100W lightbulb and then again in strong daylight (when we have it in the UK) and play graded if necessary. Stereo records will be play graded on a GARRARD 4O1 turntable with SME 3OO9 II tonearm and SHURE V15VxMR cartridge. Mono records will be played on a TH0RENS TD160 B MKII turntable with SME 3OO9 II tonearm and GRAD0 Prestige MC+ dedicated mono cartridge.
IMPORTANT
Normal packing is with 2 stiffners and a card mailer, however, sometimes this is not sufficient to protect the corners from being crushed. Therefore I now also use a padded bag which increases the weight and cost of shipping but does protect the record. If you want cheaper post and packing see my ebay page.
