ELVIS PRESLEY "ELVIS' GOLD RECORDS, VOLUME 4" Early 70s orange label stereo pressing of 1968 U.S. RCA compilation LP featuring "What'd I Say", "It Hurts Me" & "A Mess Of Blues" plus 9 more Rock & Roll classics from the "King". LSP-3921. M-/M-.
The fourth volume of Elvis' Gold Records was the first of his hits compilations to be issued at a point where he would embark on his network television "comeback" special a few months later). This album covers the early '60s through the end of 1967 period, a time when huge chart records were few & far between for the “King of Rock & Roll“. Subsequently, this set contains some of the B-sides to his previous million sellers. For example, “A Mess of Blues” originally appeared on the reverse of “It’s Now Or Never” while “It Hurts Me” was the flip of “Kissin’Cousins”. At the time, the album's arrival, and even its title, might have seemed ironic to a lot of observers. That having been said, there is some superb music on Gold Records, Vol. 4, including Elvis‘ rockin‘ version of Ray Charles‘ "What'd I Say" from “Viva Las Vegas”, his cover of the Spiders R&B hit "Witchcraft," and the aforementioned "A Mess Of Blues“ written by Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman especially for Elvis.

The cover, still in it's original shrink wrap, retains its original look w/no tears or writing. There is minor corner & edge wear along the opened right side but it still looks nearly new. Overall the cover rates a M- grading. The record looks great & plays through w/no problems but there are a few negligible pops do not adversely play. The grading is M- condition. The orange RCA labels look good with no discernible spindle marks. This is a 70s U.S. stereo pressing pressing housed in the original 1968 cover. Complete with the inner sleeve depicting Elvis' RCA LP catalog in M- condition.
