MEGARARE and HARD TO FIND original RCA Victor Records very first “New Ortophonic” High Fidelity MONO press released in Chile late 1960 by RCA Victor Records and distributed by Corporación De Radio De Chile S.A. (CRC Records), catalog number LPM 2256, with machine etched matrix number L8 OP0062-1 AI I in Side A, and L2 PP3658-1S BI in Side B, with black/silver RCA Victor labels and colored logo. Yes Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!

“CAFE EUROPA” (Coffee Europe), as we know “G.I. BLUES” movie in Chile, was originally released in 1960 in USA and we got this great album released here in Chile the same year, and like in most of the cases of that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of 2 single very thin cardboards and 2 single sheets of paper for front and back cover, with back cover glued to a cardboard with flips glued to front cover and the sheet of paper for front cover pasted over the flips. So, it looks like a normal flipback cover, but the edges are only made with a very thin cloth covered for the sheets of paper, so it’s extremely fragile. In Chile we got 3 different covers of “G.I. Blues” in 1960: with the original artwork and 2 temporary pressings with green and blue covers. And as you can see this copy corresponds to the temporary pressing with blue cover. Only about 300 copies were made with each color!!! Front cover is plain blue and textured with all prints silver, with album title in Spanish and original title in English and original catalog number. Back cover is totally different, it’s an add cover with 15 other records recommended and this copy has stamped the original price in Chile, E°7. The labels keep the same original design, with the only differences the album title is written in Spanish, with original title too, written in English, with full credits for songwriters of each song and tracklist written only in Spanish (except for “Frankfort Special”, written in English only). The first original song in the album is “Tonight Is So Right For Love” but in Chilean label is “Cuentos De Los Bosques De Viena (Esta Noche Es Buena Para Amar)” (“Tales From The Vienna Woods (Tonight Is So Right For Love)”). Another interesting fact is that in Chile the credit for Koompfer in song “Wooden Heart” is also omitted (error in the first US edition) and in the song “Tonight Is So Right For Love” we have an additional credit, “José Lilly”, which’s not informed in any other edition of this record, that’s an error, in original album this credit is also omitted, but the real name is JOSEPH LILLEY. And finally, if we check the matrix number we can observe another interesting fact, it proves this Chilean press uses the same mother of the original very first US issue from Indianapolis plant. So, yes Sirs, one more time a MEGARARE RECORD with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE ARTWORK, UNIQUE CREDIT ERROR!!! ANOTHER GREAT FIND from Chile, one of the rarest pressings of some Elvis Presley album released in Chile, with the very limited blue textured temporary cover of “G. I. Blues” that you can’t miss!!! WOW!!! Incredible find and a must to have for all Elvis Presley collectors!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG- or VG condition for both front and back covers, clean and clear, with minimalt ring mark, minimal creases, minimal blemishes and minimal wear in edges and corners, with no writtings, rips, missing parts, the only reason to grade this record VG- or VG is that it has a long spine split, but in Chile most of records don’t have a real spine, so the split don’t really affect the great look this cover keeps, as you can see in the pictures. The record is in strong VG or VG+ condition in both sides, glossy and clean, with light scuffs and hairlines and very light scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great EX or EX+ condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles, more evident in the silent part between songs, but which don’t distract from the great sound quality this record keeps from the beginning to the end. I’d recommend a deep vacuum cleaning anyway. Overall, this record maybe is not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure it’s still in a great condition with still a very nice and clean cover and still more than decent and respectable sound quality after almost 55 years, a record which won’t disappoint anyone, with no distortions, no skips, no repetitions at all!!! And the most important, remember this record has an UNIQUE BLUE TEXTURED COVER (only 300 copies of this cover were printed!!!), UNIQUE BACK COVER, UNIQUE CREDIT ERROR and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE!!! Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
