ELVIS PRESLEY – ELVIS PRESLEY (LPM-1254) FIRST PRESSING with LIGHT PINK “ELVIS” COVER!
RECORD: This First Pressing grades VG- with the scuffs and scratches associated with the grade. In spite of these, RCA Victor’s “New Orthophonic High Fidelity” remains resilient! The vocals and instrumentation are strong although some sporadic “crackle”, varying degrees of “ticks” and some minor surface noise is noticed. This Rockaway pressing played very well, overall, with only a single skip noticed during the instrumental section of “Tutti Frutti” that would probably not be noticed by the casual listener. The labels are without any stickers or writing, but show some light spindle marks on both sides. This of course, is Elvis’ debut album. It was released in March of 1956 and All 12 tracks were also released on 45 RPM and 45 EP! The matrix numbers on this record end with 9S/9S.
COVER: This scarce cover variety showing “ELVIS” in light pink letters grades VG+ with a 5-inch upper seam split as well as a 1-inch lower seam split at the open ends. The spine is solid and fully legible. There is no tape, writing or staple holes anywhere on this cover. The original “2 Guys” store price sticker of $2.98 remains fully affixed to the upper right corner on the back side. Some light soiling from handling on the back is noticed. A highly presentable cover! The original “onion skin” inner sleeve is included, but there are some tears and missing pieces noticed. The record will be housed in a new white sleeve for shipping purposes.
