ELVIS PRESLEY – “ELVIS’ CHRISTMAS ALBUM” (LOC-1035), an ORIGINAL 1957 PRESSING With Limited GATEFOLD COVER & COMPLETE, INTACT PHOTO ALBUM!  

RECORD:  VG+ with attractive glossy surfaces. Sure, there are some light surfaces scuffs and scratches, but nothing that can be felt with the fingertip. I played this Hollywood pressing in its entirety and RCA Victor’s “New Orthophonic” High Fidelity does not disappoint! There are some noticeable “ticks”, especially on the softer tracks, but absolutely no skips or annoying repeats. The labels are very clean and original with just some light spindle marks noticed. This album was released in November of 1957 and for many years was believed to have been available exclusively for that year. Recent documentation has recently surfaced proving that the reissue (LPM-1951) made its debut in 1959 and not 1958! This also brings into question the Silver Print along the spine as opposed to the Gold Print, as seen on this particular copy. Could the Silver Print been from 1958? Only someone from back in the day may have knowledge of that mystery. The matrix numbers on this record end with 5S/5S.  

COVER:  VG with a 3-inch upper seam split as well as a small amount of upper & lower edge wear and corner wear. The spine is actually much nicer than most of those that are encountered. A short, 1-inch split just beneath “ELVIS PRESLEY” is observed. There is some old tape residue that is seen along the edges of the red wrap-around material that has adhered mainly to the cover itself (see photos). This old tape has since fallen off and the wrap-around spine material could now be glued down into place. The “bound in” Photo Album remains fully intact with just one minor flaw being a tiny body tear on one page (see photo), presumably caused by a pencil poke. The original owner wrote their name in red ball-point pen across Elvis’ forehead on the front and down his neck on the back side.   

INNER SLEEVE:  The original RCA Victor inner sleeve from the era that lists “Loving You” under the “Popular” category.
