"Elvis Presley" EPA 747 1956 U.S. RCA EP M-/M-

"Blue Suede Shoes"/"Tutti Frutti"/"I Got A Woman"/"Just Because" US (RCA) EPA 747 (mono)

This EP came out in early 1956 at the same time as Elvis' first 12" album (LPM 1254) was released. It contains 4 of the songs from the LP with "Blue Suede Shoes" being the lead-off track. "Blue Suede Shoes" was recorded at Elvis' first New York recording session on January 30th, 1956. This EP also contains a cover of Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti" from the same sessions, Ray Charles "I Got A Woman", recorded a few weeks earlier in Nashville & the Sun out-take "Just Because".  This EP cracked the Billboard Top 100, peaking at #20 on April 7th, 1956 but it was no match for Carl Perkins #1 smash. The front cover looks great with the famous b&w pose of Elvis in action & "Elvis" in hot pink lettering streaming down the left side & "Presley" in pea green lettering along the bottom. The title strip is black with white lettering. The back cover has an early b&w photo of Elvis performing live alongside the track listing with "Elvis Presley" & a small promotional blurb comprising the bottom half. Overall the sleeve shows very minor age & handling wear but is otherwise very nice with no tears or writing. The record has black RCA "dog on top" labels with silver lines on the sides. Side 1 looks great except for 1 small needle mark at the beginning of "Tutti Frutti" which does not affect play, side 2 has no scratches or scuffs. Overall condition M-/M-.
