Description
Available here is an obscure Chinese 10" vinyl record which features a pairing of Connie Francis with Elvis Presley. Apart from Shen Pao Record printed on the outer sleeve (in English and Chinese), there is no other information as to the origins of this item. I suspect that it dates from the early 1960s and has Top-Hit printed on the record centre along with a catalogue number TH 7003. However, I have been unable to locate any information on the Internet relating to this release and the company in question.
Record Condition - Good - The record is bright and clean with a few minor marks but no worrying scratches. The record centres have a laminate film which is lifting just a touch at the edge on one side. Having listened to both sides I can confirm that there is no jumping or sticking but the Connie Francis does have a steady background crackle throughout. This issue is less pronounced during the Elvis Presley songs, although there is still a little noise.
Sleeve Condition - Very Good - Original sleeve with light wear and a small split by one corner. Appears to have been issued with an integral plastic cover. Large pictures of both sides of the disc and sleeve are available on request.
Content - Side One is headed Connie Francis Sings and features five of her songs. The second side is Elvis Presley Sings (Blue Hawaii) with what I believe are five of his originals from the film soundtrack of the same name. However, the last track is Connie Francis once again. Apart from this song, all the other Connie Francis tracks were taken from her Never On Sunday album. Both the original records date from 1961.
