ELVIS PRESLEY – “ELVIS BACK IN MEMPHIS” (LSP-4429) SCARCE TAN LABEL ISSUE WITH “Side A” / “Side B” ON LABELS
RECORD: VG++ (EXC) Indianapolis pressing with beautiful, original gloss! There is just one light scratch on Side A, Track 3 (“Stranger In My Own Home Town”) that prompted a test-play to ensure clarity. The track met with very positive results in that it played flawlessly! The Tan Labels are very clean and attractive, showing just a few light spindle marks on each side. This album was originally released in November of 1970 with the same catalog number. Prior to that, it was Record 2 in the 2-Record Set, “From Memphis To Vegas” in November of 1969. All tracks were recorded in January and February of that same year. This particular issue is very scarce as it shows “Side A Stereo” / “Side B Stereo” on the labels, unlike the vast majority of the Tan Label copies, which state “Side 1 Stereo” / “Side 2 Stereo”. Jerry Osborne places a NM value of $50 on this variety, compared to $30 for the “Side 1 Stereo” / “Side 2 Stereo” variety. There are only two other Tan Label Elvis albums that were similarly labeled; “Elvis Country” and “Elvis - Now”.
COVER: VG++ (EXC) with absolutely no seam splits, tape, writing or staple holes. Ring wear is very light on both sides of this mostly black cover. Very minor wear is seen at the corner tips and edges. This is a truly beautiful, original cover! This album includes the original “ELVIS” (54F) inner sleeve from the era.
