Description

This 6-disc set of Elvis is more than the music, although the music on this 6 vinyl box set is the point.  Although the box set has no shrink wrap—hence being marked "used"—the discs have not been played by me and appear to have never been played. 


Received while working at A&M Records, the set has been sitting on a shelf or in a box since I received it from a friend at the RCA label sometime in the mid-late 1980s. Here are the specifics:

  • This is a 6-LP vinyl records set.
  • It was released in 1984.
  • The selection number is CPM6-5172.
  • The box is marked “Mono”.
  • Each disc is in a printed (b&w) card stock inner sleeve with images and narrative appropriate to the disc.
  • All six discs were placed in an embossed gold box.
  • Also included are a 25x20cm photo of Elvis and an 8.5" x 11" single-sided one-sheet promoting the 50th Anniversary collection and HBO Special.
  • Inner sleeves, record labels and back cover of box all contain titles denoting the origin of each segment of the box set. These all differ slightly.
  • Each box set was apparently numbered. This box has a sticker with a serial number on the back cover. I - 4922.
  • Side 12 contains 11 individual songs from a live performance, divided into two bands, with a total playing time of 26:36.


As a promotional copy, the box was ‘notched’ on the open edge and, consequently, each of the individual sleeves and the inserts were also notched.
