Description

 Description

This listing is for a complete set of five original iconic Elvis Presley Sun record label 7 inch 45 RPM records.  These records are all original United States pressings released between 1954 and 1955.  Four of the five records have the Push Marks on the record labels, with the exception being the Mystery Train 45 which was not issued with the Push Marks on the label.  We played each of the records, and all five of these 45s are described and graded below.

- RECORD ONE (Sun 209, released 1954)

THAT'S ALL RIGHT
backed with
BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY

DEAD WAX (Side 1): U-128-45 72
DEAD WAX (Side 2): U-129-45 72

Sun 209 is the earlier pressing with the number 209 printed on the record labels at the 9 o'clock position, instead of the 6 o'clock position of the later pressings.  This record has one possible sticking point on some record players, as it played through on some equipment but on other equipment had one stick towards the end of the That's All Right side.  Visibly this record grades VG, and also has a light warp which does not affect play.

- RECORD TWO (Sun 210, released 1954)

GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT
backed with
I DON'T CARE IF THE SUN DON'T SHINE

DEAD WAX (Side 1): U-131-45 72
DEAD WAX (Side 2): U-130-45 72

Sun 210 plays through on both sides. Visibly this record grades G+.

- RECORD THREE (Sun 215, released 1954)

MILKCOW BLUES BOOGIE
backed with
YOU'RE A HEARTBREAKER

DEAD WAX (Side 1): U-140-45 72
DEAD WAX (Side 2): U-141-45 72

Sun 215 plays through on both sides.  Visibly this record grades VG, and also has a small heat mark area on the outside edge in the opening dead wax on the You're A Heartbreaker side.  This marking measures roughly 2 inches around the outer edge by 1/4 inch into the record from the outside edge, and is only in the dead wax area.  It stops before the opening musical groove and does not affect play.

- RECORD FOUR (Sun 217, released 1955)

BABY LET'S PLAY HOUSE
backed with
I'M LEFT, YOU'RE RIGHT, SHE'S GONE

DEAD WAX (Side 1): U-143X-45-2 72
DEAD WAX (Side 2): U-142-45 72

Sun 217 has one skip on the Baby Lets Play House side.  This skip is near the end of the song, just after the line that says I'd Rather See You Dead Little Girl.  This is the nicest looking 45 of the set, visibly grading a strong VG+.  The record label for Baby Let's Play House also has some writing on it.

- RECORD FIVE (Sun 223, released 1955)

MYSTERY TRAIN
backed with
I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET

DEAD WAX (Side 1): 45-U-156X 20
DEAD WAX (Side 2): 45-U-157X 20

Sun 223 plays through on both sides.  Visibly it grades G.  The record label for I Forgot To Remember To Forget also has some writing.

All of our LP's are shipped in sturdy cardboard LP mailers with appropriate padding.

With the exception of sealed LP's, all LP's are removed from their outer sleeves to prevent seam splitting. Upon request, we will give your sealed LP's the same treatment.

All records are carefully graded. In an attempt to give customers an accurate impression of condition rather than adhere to somewhat arbitrary criteria, The Great Escape gives an "overall presentation" grade; we do not give a "listening" grade. Our vinyl listings are supplemented when necessary with additional remarks. For example: where some dealers will not allow a cut corner on an otherwise near mint jacket (often automatically relegating it to a VG+ at best), we may grade such a record as NM and note the cut-out mark (thereby letting you know what it "really" looks like: a near-perfect record with a cut corner). LPs are graded cover first, followed by the grade for the vinyl.

We describe all items to the best of our ability and knowledge, and we image everything that is included for each listing. If you have any questions regarding a description or pictures, please contact us for help.

Combining Items

You may also continue purchasing additional items from our auctions or eBay store. You have 7 days from the end of the first purchase to add additional items to your order. Please note that Unpaid Items Disputes will open on any item after 4 days without payment. You still have the full 7 days to submit payment on those items. Because of our volume we automate this process and cannot turn it on/off for individual orders. Make sure all of your auctions have ended prior to checking out. All of your purchases will be consolidated into one checkout!
