Description

Elvis Presley's King Creole LP, Album Cover and Bonus Photo

Released on September 19th, 1958 as LPM-1884, this album peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts shortly thereafter.  This ebay listing includes the original vinyl, original record cover, and the highly coveted bonus photo.  The vinyl has several long surface scratches on each side, but is still highly playable with none of the damage being deep enough to cause a high-fidelity needle to skip.  I conservatively grade the record at Good+ to VG-.  The album cover has no splits, which is hard to find for any record of this vintage.  It still has the original price sticker on the back which was $3.98, discounted down to $2.98.  The cover grades out at VG+.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this package deal is the original and rare bonus photo of Elvis in his Army uniform.  The photo was reportedly only given out at record stores in the first few weeks of this records release, a limited promotion that was organized by Presley's manager, Colonel Parker.  Not many of these photos still exist, and for Elvis collectors, they are widely considered a "holy grail" item.  This photo was once pasted by an Elvis fan in a scrap book and when the photo was removed (not by me) it was torn on the right hand side.  The tear is approximately 1-7/8" long from the right-hand side, and lower on the photo there is a small piece of the border missing which measures less than 3/8" by 3/16" (see photos).

But this is guaranteed to be an ORIGINAL 57 year-old BONUS PHOTO, not a German reproduction!!!  In spite of the damage done to this rare collector piece, it still shows really well if displayed in a standard 8X10 photo frame.  The tear has been glued back together and there are camera and photo shops which sell black-and-white photo touch-up paint which could be used to further enhance the image if desired.

With a lower starting price, I am making this piece very affordable for the beginning Elvis collector, as these photos normally cost anywhere from $250 to $400 even without the record and cover, which are both in respectable shape.  I highly recommend you select Priority shipping ($7.15) over Media rate ($4.00), as dictated by ebay's recent stupid minimum shipping cost rules.  Priority items are treated with better care in the USPS system and are less likely to be damaged.  Item will be shipped in a standard cardboard record mailer, unless other instructions are given.  If you live outside the US, then inquire for actual shipping costs before paying.  Payment is expected within 3 days of the auction close - I don't make alternate payment arrangements outside of ebay guidelines.  Thank you for looking and good luck bidding.
