ELTON JOHN (rare 7" double sided acetate) UK

This is a very rare and original acetate of Elton John cut at CBS RECORDING STUDIOS in LONDON,.

made even more rare by being double sided.

SIDE ONE : EMPTY GARDEN (5.10)

SIDE TWO : SIMPLE MAN (3.50)

This is a unique acetate and this is the FIRST RELEASE of the song " A SIMPLE MAN" , here titled "SIMPLE MAN".

This acetate was cut in 1982 and Elton John was probably planning to release A SIMPLE MAN in 1982 as b-side of EMPTY GARDEN, but at the end the project was aborted and so the song A SIMPLE MAN was released only 2 years later in 1984, as B-side of the song SAD SONG.

This is the only acetate found with A SIMPLE MAN released two years prior the official release.

There isn't any other  7" single in the world with these 2 songs together.

I am not sure if the songs are the same as the released versions or if they are alternate versions or out-takes.

The label has the CBS logo and the full adress of the CBS Studios. It reads:

I am a very famous collector of acetates of DIRE STRAITS but I am not very expert of Elton John.

I have purchased it for my own collection but I think that this gem will find a better place in the hands of a serious Elton John collector.

The acetate is in EXCELLENT conditions and it comes with its original plain white sleeve.

As this is a mega-rare acetate and probably a one-off, I have set a high starting price.
