Description
ELTON JOHN "Honky Chateau" Original UK LP from 1972 (DJM DJLPH 423). Original first pressing with Envelope Style textured gatefold sleeve with embossed artwork, flap on the back, and actual pasted textured photo on front. This was in print for a short time and soon the sleeve was replaced with simpler plain gatefold design and with photo as part of the print. Another interesting thing about the early UK pressings of this album is that the record appears black under normal viewing condition but it is actually TRANSLUCENT RED when held against a light source. Matrix Numbers: DJLPH 423 A2, DJLPH 423 B2 and has RASPUTIN and BOBIL hand etched. One of his best loved albums. Include the classics: Honky cat, Rocket man, etc. Sleeve has a tear on the flap (which is typical of this design) and the original owner put clear tape on it otherwise it would have been EX. Record is VG+.
